Chris O’Brien

Chairman

Chris is a graduate of Victoria University with extensive background in property and commerce. He has proven experience in strategic planning, trouble-shooting and risk assessment. Chris is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

He has been an elected member of the Board of the Laura Fergusson Trust since 1997. In 2001 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board and Chairman in 2004. Chris was a founding Trustee of the Joyce Fisher Endowment Fund and appointed Chairman in November 2006. He is also currently a member of the New Zealand Government’s Rehabilitation Services Review Board.

Dr Simon Barclay

Deputy Chairman

Simon, a qualified medical practitioner, was born in London where he studied medicine. Since coming to NZ in 1979 he has worked as a GP and in the medical insurance industry. He has founded a number of companies both in the medical and non-medical fields and has been appointed to several Boards, serving as Director and Chairman. He is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Simon was elected to the Board of Laura Fergusson in 2007 where he has made a valuable contribution from a medical and commercial perspective. Simon is Chairman of the Quality and Risk Committee and was appointed a Trustee of the Joyce Fisher Endowment Fund in 2008. Simon is also the Chairman of the National Trust Board.

Janine Campbell

Janine became a member of the Board in 2013. A graduate of the University of Auckland, Janine has held senior Human Resources roles in national professional services firms.

Her experience includes HR strategic planning, team leadership and management, and learning & development.

Jo Clark

Jo serves on the Board as the representative of the Laura Fergusson Women’s Committee which she joined in 2001. Jo is the current President of the Women’s Committee, an office she previously held from 2004 to 2007.

Jo is a past President of the Auckland Bridge Club and is currently the Inaugural Chairperson of the New Zealand Bridge Foundation.

Richard Glenn

Richard is a law graduate of Victoria University of Wellington. After working in private legal practice for 6 years he moved to a large financial institution where he worked briefly as in-house legal counsel and then moved into front line banking.

Richard has worked in a variety of financial institutions and recently retired after 18 years with the Bank of New Zealand’s Institutional Bank. His latter roles included Head of Specialised Finance and Client Director for the Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure sector and he was at various times a member of both the BNZ Credit Risk Committee and the National Australia Group Transactional Credit Committee.

Richard was elected to the Board of Laura Fergusson in 2011.

John is the managing director of family-owned retail business, Magness Benrow. John has been on the Board for the past 15 years and serves on the Finance and Asset Committee.

Shelley Moana Hiha

Shelley has been a member of the Board since 2003 and serves on the Quality and Risk Committee. Shelley’s personal experience of injury and her work in sport and rehabilitation provide her with a unique insight into the work of the Trust.

Shelley has worked in complementary health education for ten years and has a lot of experience in the development and analysis of government policy providing her with an in depth knowledge of the political and policy framework the Trust operates in.

John Wolk

John was a resident at Laura Fergusson in the early 1980s and is the founder and editor of “Without Limits”, a nationally distributed magazine for disabled persons. John brings his commercial knowledge as the owner and operator of a small business and his personal experience of disability to the Board.

Rob Small

Rob has a distinguished career in Local Government in Parks, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Conservation Land Management and Community Development, both in NZ and overseas, in CEO, President and Director roles.

His strengths lie in governance, financial resource management, culture change and advocating for environmental sustainability and humanitarian rights.

Rob supports a number of trusts and organisations including WWF, International Federation of Parks and Recreation, World Urban Parks, American Public Gardens Association, Botanic Gardens Australia New Zealand and Rotary.

Recently appointed as an Independent Board Director with Ngati Whatua Orakei Whai Maia, Rob has a passion for sharing his knowledge with not-for-profit organisations and he joined Laura Fergusson Trust as a board member in 2016.

Colin Parker

Honorary Solicitor

Colin served on the Board of Laura Fergusson from 1991 until 2006 and is now general counsel to the Board. He is the Honorary Solicitor for the Laura Fergusson National Trust Board.

He is a partner in the law firm Parker Rhodes, a boutique legal practice specialising in commercial, property and environmental law. Prior to establishing Parker Rhodes, Colin was a partner with a large national law firm. Colin was appointed a Trustee of the Joyce Fisher Endowment Fund in 2006
