Wood Workshop Assistant
Laura Fergusson Rehabilitation specialises in the care and rehabilitation of clients who have experienced a neurological or physical injury or are experiencing the symptoms of a deteriorating neurological disease. Our aim is to promote as much function and independence as possible, while at the same time facilitating adjustment to disability, promoting self-determination and valuing quality of life.
One facility available for rehabilitation purposes is our wood workshop. Rehabilitation programmes that incorporate wood working, allow clients to learn new skills and adaptive techniques to navigate their condition and promote independence.
Volunteers assist with tasks around the workshop and provide support to clients and staff, Monday to Friday, 10 am to 12 noon. This role involves aiding clients who have difficulty holding tools and equipment, acting as a steady hand, offering assistance when tasks become too challenging or simply providing guidance.
This is a great opportunity for volunteers who are wood work hobbyists and wish to use their skills to give back to the community.
All safety equipment and tools are provided.
