September Member Newsletter

A lot has been going on at Beagle Avenue with a veranda lifted, internal ramp installed, work on turning a bathroom into a wet room and the kitchen is being built.

Work completed inside includes:

  • The access into the mini kitchen, gym/activity room needed an internal ramp.

  • The glass wall (pictured in the before photo) has been removed which has really opened up the hallway and made it feel so much more spacious and inviting.

  • The ramp winds down, along the wall and gently into the room – a big improvement.

We are enormously grateful to the following people and businesses for their generous support:

Support Sally

Our development manager, Sally O’Brien, is running her first marathon and LFT is the beneficiary.  Sally hopes to raise $10k to go towards the cost of a SiMax bike ($21,750.00) for the gym at Beagle Ave. Donations can be made in the link below.

Annual General Meeting – Sunday 24th November – Hold the date

This is to let members put a ‘hold the date’ in their diary. We know many of our members work so getting to meetings is difficult. We decided this year, since so much has happened, to hold the AGM on Sunday 24th November at 1.00pm.

The AGM will be at Eden Park, in the World Cup Lounge West and there’s loads of disabled parking and excellent wheelchair access.

Bequests

September is Wills Month. This is a great opportunity to add a bequest for funds to go to the Laura Fergusson Trust.  We all know that the Government doesn’t do enough for the physically disabled community. We all worked incredibly hard to fight to keep Laura Fergusson doing what it was renowned for. But we can’t rest on that.

We rely on the generosity of members and those who have supported LFT for many years. Please considering leaving a gift in your will. Gifts of all sizes make a huge difference. If you want assistance with adding a codicil or have any questions, please get in touch with Sally at Sallyo@lft.co.nz.

Donations

As part of Fosters’ focus on Building Great Communities their employees get the opportunity to support their community by way of a ‘FOSTER500’ $500 sponsorship grant. Thank you to Trevor Harris from the Hamilton Fosters team. He heard Victoria speak about Laura Fergusson and asked for Fosters to donate $500.00 to support the services of the Laura Fergusson Trust.

Thank you all for your encouragement and support, The Board of LFT
